We did it, angels! With your help, we’ve managed to raise a whopping $5,193 with the sales of our “Love Is Love” charity shirt campaign through Represent! 100% of the proceeds will go to The Trevor Project, an American organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth.
The choice to back this charity was motivated by the fact that, on Shadowhunters, both Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood have been shown to struggle with suicide and other mental health issues, but have been able to find strength and support in one another and in their friends. Designed by BSS co-founder Sam Pedley, the artwork was inspired by ‘the red thread of fate,’ an East-Asian belief originating from China in which an invisible thread connects you to someone you are destined to meet, no matter the odds (often depicted as being tied around the pinky fingers). We don’t know about you, but we think this sounds perfect for Malec, the couple that always seems to find their way back to each other.
This is our second Represent campaign featuring this design – its first run benefitted both The Trevor Project and GLAAD, an organization working hard to accelerate acceptance, visibility, and support of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in media.
Our design even made an appearance at this year’s New York Comic Con!
Whether you have purchased the t-shirt, tank, or hoodie (or all of them), wear it with pride, because you have helped show that love (and the Malec fandom) has the power to make real, tangible, positive change in the world. Take a page out of Magnus and Alec’s book, and be your proud and beautiful selves.

Shadowhunters is available for streaming via Freeform for U.S. residents and internationally on Netflix. Shadowhunters returns with Season 3 on April 3rd, 2018.
