Meet Audrey! Known as ‘Aegisdea’ or ‘Drei,’ she is a 24-year-old artist and fandom member from the Philippines.

How long have you been drawing?
10 years! But if you count five-year-old Drei being enthusiastic about doodling as a hobby, then 19 years.
How did you get involved in the Shadowhunters fandom?
It was mid-2013 when my friend recommended The Mortal Instruments to me. She tricked me into reading it by telling me that there will be a lot of Malec scenes in the City of Bones. I was already intrigued and well-acquainted with the characters of Alec and Magnus because of how often she fan-girled about them. Of course, I gave it a try and was immediately immersed in the lore of the Shadow World and the characters involved in it. The idea of having a lot of freedom to interpret the characters was refreshing, and so I started creating fanart. The rest is history!
Who is your favorite character to draw and why?
This is a hard question! I don’t genuinely have a favorite character to draw since I mostly make fanart of a character based on the mood I’m in, and I always enjoy drawing them. From an artistic standpoint, I am particularly attached to the fae characters. I just get excited every time I draw characters with unique features and intricate designs; it challenges my creativity (also, drawing pointy ears is fun; do not forget the pointy ears!).
What ships do you ship, and why do you love them so much?
Y’all, I have a lot. This might a while! Malec, of course! This ship is the top-most OTP of all of my Shadowhunters OTPs. Sizzy: hot, geeky boy and an I-kick-demon-ass-using-high-heels gal is my kind of OTP. I just love their dynamic so much; they make me weak. And I just want Izzy to be happy, so I ship this ship as hard as Malec. Heronstairs: Will and Jem. Who doesn’t ship Will and Jem? I love their chemistry, their banter, their love for each other as Parabatai. I love them to bits. I’m willing to reread The Infernal Devices only to cry for them again. Gabily: I have a weakness over couples like Gabriel and Cecily. I love how Cecily can make a snarky man like Gabriel tongue-tied. I was really drawn in by their chemistry. Henlotte: okay, listen, these two are so cute. I can’t! Do I have to explain why I love them so much? Wessa: I love how Tessa helped Will become a better man. I love their chemistry, their witty banter. I love how they’re both book nerds. Also, I love Will very much. Jemma: do you wanna know how frustrated I am with Emma and Jules after I read Lady Midnight ? I am so scared for them, and I love them and I want them to be happy, but I live for angst, and this couple will be the bane of my existence. Haline: I loved this couple the moment they were revealed in The Mortal Instruments. I wish to see more scenes with them. Helen is one of my favorite characters. I can relate to her as a bisexual woman and the eldest among five siblings!
What has been the best part of your fandom experience so far?
I wouldn’t really be focusing on art as a career had I not entered the Shadowhunters fandom. The fans were so kind and supportive! I have also met long-term friends and have had the privilege to be featured and commissioned by Cassandra Clare herself! It was so surreal and also a huge blessing! Many good things happened to me because of this fandom and I am truly thankful for it!
