Shadowhunters 3×19, “Aku Cinta Kamu” gave us an extra dose of heartache and some super awkward moments. We saw the rise of Team Evil as Jace went undercover on a mission with Clary and Jonathan. After some creepy nightclub antics, they kidnapped the Seelie Queen as a means to get the Morgenstern sword. Speaking of swords, Izzy showed off her Weapons Master skills and forged a new Glorious sword. When Maia and Jordan heard there was only one vial of Heavenly Fire remaining, they rushed down to the Institute and demanded a chance to become human. Simon convinced Maia that this was a selfish move, but Jordan secretly stole the vial. Magnus wallowed in the agony of his heartache until Asmodeus miraculously showed up and returned his magic. However, a still heartbroken Magnus tried to banish his memories of Alec. Asmodeus stopped him and pulled him into a hug that looked more like it was part of an evil plan than fatherly affection.
1: Worst Day Ever:
Magnus hits his breaking point.
We could have easily given Magnus Most Heartbreaking AGAIN, but there is so much pitting Magnus into an endless cycle of despair in a single episode that we gave him Worst Day Ever instead. As he wandered down the streets still wearing yesterday’s clothes, he revisited his memories of Alec, desperately trying to understand why the love of his life stopped loving him. Things started to look up when Asmodeus gave Magnus his magic back, but it was short lived as Magnus realized there was still an Alec shaped hole in his soul. A bad day became catastrophic when Magnus decided his memories of Alec were breaking him. When Brother Zachariah refused to remove them, like a true bro, Magnus tried to do it himself. Asmodeus stopped him just in time (good move, Daddy Dearest, but not enough to make you a hero), but with questionable motives. It officially became the Worst Day Ever when Magnus had no one else but Asmodeus to hold him as he cried.
2: Biggest Nerds:
It’s a bird, it’s a plane… It’s Sizzy!
When Izzy needed to draw some of Simon’s leftover angel blood (from feeding on Jace in 2×10), the two shared an adorkable moment where we learned just how much Izzy is actually paying attention when Simon speaks, even confessing that she watched Superman and other superhero movies because Simon kept talking about them. Awwww! She is so smitten and doesn’t even know it. All Simon needs to do is grab his old glasses and wear a Supervamp cape under his clothes to clinch the Sizzy deal. Izzy, your Clark Kent is right in front of you. He’s afraid of needles, but he won’t break your heart.
3: Badass Moment:
Izzy has the power!
It doesn’t get any more Badass than a strong woman wielding a powerful sword she forged herself. Izzy had some epic going as she swung a blacksmith’s hammer and held up a glowing angelic-powered sword. Izzy rocked this scene and reminded us all how strong she is even as she continues battling her yin-fen addiction. She’s a role model oozing with empowerment. We could almost hear Izzy saying, “For the honor of Grayskull,” when she went all She-Ra and held up that glowing, newly-forged Glorious sword.
4: Most Dysfunctional Squad:
There’s just so much cringe going on with Team Evil.
Everything about Jace, Clary, and Jonathan hanging out together was pretty messed up. When Team Evil set out to go to a nightclub to kidnap the Seelie Queen, Jonathan encouraged everyone to have a little fun until Her Highness arrived. Clary ended up seducing a drugged up Jace on the dance floor, while a creepily jealous Jonathan watched. The whole thing went from being kinda weird to having a full-blown awkward incest vibe that made us wonder just who is supposed to be the third wheel here. The worst part is the fact that we still have to ask that question. We are still cringing.
That’s the best of the best for us this week. Hit us up on Twitter and share your picks!
The series finale of Shadowhunters is available to stream on Freeform.go, Hulu and Netflix International.
