Meet Shirin! Known as ‘Shirmir,’ she is a 22-year-old artist and fandom member from France.
Describe yourself in three words.
Perfectionist, grumpy, and thinks-she’s-funny-but-she’s-painfully-not.
How long have you been drawing?
I’m gonna be very unoriginal, but I think as soon as I knew how to hold a pencil, I’ve been drawing non-stop! No, but I really started digital drawing almost a year ago now, I think. And it’s all thanks to Shadowhunters.
How did you get involved in the Shadowhunters fandom?
Well, the main reason is Harry Shum Jr. because I knew him from Glee and I thought I would give his new show a shot. To be honest, I also continue to watch Shadowhunters mainly because of him.
Who is your favorite character to draw and why?
It’s a tie between Magnus and Alec. Alec, because I find it soothing to draw his face; the lines flow almost ‘effortlessly.’ Magnus is a bit more challenging to me because Harry’s facial features are out of this world and I don’t do him justice. But Magnus’ aesthetics are so on point, and he’s a never-ending source of inspiration, so he wins.
What ships do you ship, and why you love them so much?
Malec (surprise!). It’s a relationship that feels so honest, so real, and they’re really good for each other. Harry and Matt’s portrayal is very thoughtful and their chemistry blows my mind with every episode. To me, it’s a really good representation of a healthy, multi-racial m/m relationship.
I also really like Simon/Maia; I thought they were very cute. Saphael and Clizzy are a big thing for me, and I adored Lucelyn (and now I cry).
What is the best part of your fandom experience so far?
So many good things have happened to me since I joined the fandom; be it the cast noticing my fanarts or the overwhelming support from the fandom on social media. But most of all, I’m really grateful for all the amazing friends I made on here. It’s the first time in all my years on Tumblr that this has happened. Shadowhunters made me come out of my shell enough to share my art and start talking to people. So, thank you, Shadowhunters, for that!
