Meet Paulina! Known as ‘Mundane Lion,’ she is a 20-year-old fandom member from Poland.
Describe yourself in three words.
I would use: perfectionist, coffee addict, and devoted.
How long have you been drawing?
Well, as most people, since I was a kid, but the real drawing started when I was in sixth grade, so I was 11 I think. That makes nine years, and when I think about it, most of that time was me drawing animals.
What kind of equipment do you use?
I am mostly (or maybe fully now) a digital artist, so a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet that has been with me for four and a half years now.
How did you get involved in the Shadowhunters fandom?
I actually saw a post on my Tumblr dashboard. One of my friends reblogged a gifset with a tall, smiling dude and I was quite curious about that show. Then, basically, I watched six or eight episodes in one sitting. I have never been more grateful for being involved in a fandom like this one.
Who is your favorite character to draw and why?
Well, that’s bit like choosing your favorite child! But I’ll say Magnus. I love drawing his features. He gives me this weird kind of calmness. I don’t have to worry about anything when I draw him. I know where the lines should go, where the shades are dropping and what colors I should use in a whole picture (also, drawing him in YSL’s or Louis Vuitton’s shirts is kind of awesome).
What ships do you ship, and why you love them so much?
It won’t be a surprise, but Malec. These two show the – you might say – realness of a relationship: the struggles, the importance of communication, and that you can rely on each other. It really warms my heart when I look at them, and I am so, so grateful for Matt and Harry because their acting is amazing and just blows my mind! Apart from those two, I really like Jimon and I loved their interactions in Episode 10.
What has been the best part of your fandom experience so far?
Oh my Lord, this one is hard… It’s gonna be all the unique and amazing people I have met and got to talk with. The cast members noticing my drawings made for them (I still scream about that)! Also, the response I get. I am always astonished when I see that people actually enjoy stuff I make. I am forever grateful for that.
