Meet Audrey! Known as ‘Aude’ or ‘Shadowdreyter,’ she is a 21-year-old artist and fandom member from France.
Describe yourself in three words.
If I’m being honest here: nice, insecure, and anxious.
How long have you been drawing?
Well, I always liked to draw as a kid, but I wasn’t very good at it, at that age. But I really started doing digital drawings last February.
What kind of medium or equipment do you use?
I have a simple graphics tablet, specifically a Huion 1060plus. As for the program, I’m using mostly Photoshop, but I also have Paint Tool Sai.
How did you get involved in the Shadowhunters fandom?
Episode 5 of Season 1, I remember very well. It was the day of my goddaughter’s birth. I saw some amazing edits of the show on my Tumblr and I liked the concept, so I gave it a try and I fell in love.
Who is your favorite character to draw and why?
I can’t really decide between Magnus and Alec. I like to draw them as much as I do Matthew and Harry. I’m still learning as I never took drawing lessons, so drawing Malec and Shumdario is helping me to learn about shape, what colors to use, and how to draw a face. I don’t have any typical style for now, but drawing them gives me goals to strive towards.
What ships do you ship, and why you love them so much?
MALEC of course! It’s obvious when you see my drawings. They fall fast and don’t know what hit them. I liked the fact that we saw Magnus slowly opening his heart toward someone, something that normally he tries to avoid. For Alec, it was the first time he finds himself in a position where things are out of his control. They both saw hope in each other. Their love is pure and like magnets; they were brought together, completing each other in a beautiful way.
What is your favorite episode of Shadowhunters and why?
My favorite episode? I never really thought of it actually. I don’t think I have one. I fall in love with scenes actually. I enjoy all the meaningful and emotional scenes. Those that bring something new in a character and others that help you understanding someone and their motives. Really, I never find an episode better than any other one; they are all equal in my heart.
What has been the best part of your fandom experience so far?
The people I get to meet on social media. It’s so overwhelming sometimes for me because I’m not used to getting so much support and love. I’m someone very lonely normally and this fandom helped me open up a bit, and gave me the desire to go out and do things I’m afraid of doing normally. I’m still very insecure and anxious, but I’m getting there. All the people I’ve talked to have beautiful souls. I’ve discovered amazing and talented people out there and I’m very thankful for all the people I’ve created a friendship with.
