Meet Anastasia! Known as ‘AnaNas-Glass,’ she’s a 17-year-old artist and fandom member from Russia.
Describe yourself in three words.
Optimistic. Emotional. Partial.
How long have you been drawing?
From the moment I first got a pencil in my hands, I got down to business. I’ve never done drawing professionally. It’s more like a hobby. I just do what I like. I started drawing fanart from the Shadow World in January 2017.
What kind of medium or equipment do you use?
I draw with pencils, usually on regular paper. After that, I take a photo of my drawings and use an online photo editor, Fotor.
How did you get involved in the Shadowhunters fandom?
It was a typical summer evening in 2016. I had been watching videos on YouTube and I came across a Malec fan video. I was hooked. I spend the next two days watching all of Season 1. Now I’ve been watching and reading everything connected with the Shadow World and following along with the show. Thank you to Cassandra Clare for this amazing story!
Who is your favorite character to draw and why?
I love all the characters, each in their own way unique. But I think that Magnus Bane is perfect. Under all this glory, he hides his own weaknesses and his tragic past. Harry Shum Jr. is amazing in the way he plays his character. My admiration for him has no limit. Magnus is a very strong character and he is a father figure to a lot of Downworlders. He is always trying to help everyone. His relationship with Raphael is a good example. My other favorite character is Sebastian/Jonathan. I just adore and hate him at the same time. He killed so many people, brought such pain and destruction. He is a psycho, but I adore him. Will Tudor is gorgeous and I pause the episode every time he is on-screen.
What ships do you ship, and why you love them so much?
It doesn’t matter what their relationship status is, Simon and Clary are my BROTP. I also love Clace. Two angels who accidentally collided on the street. The moment where they track Jonathan in Episode 19? So amazing. I could also talk about Malec for hours. You just have to look at them to know they are made to be together. So different, and yet they perfectly compliment each other. Saia is adorable. Luke and Maryse… It will be interesting to watch how their relationship will develop. And I’m waiting for when Simon and Isabelle are going to be together!
What is your favorite episode of Shadowhunters and why?
That’s a hard question, but I have to say 2×18. I loved this episode not just because of Malec. All of the songs from this episode went into my playlist, and Billy Lockett is one of my favorite artists. The whole episode was just amazing. So many great moments…Max not dying (but I knew he was going to live), everyone finally finding out that Sebastian was really Jonathan, and Clary (my babe) attacking Jonathan! That was a very powerful scene.
What has been the best part of your fandom experience so far?
The opportunity to find like-minded people. People who share your interests and feelings. It’s amazing. And of course, in fandom, you can express yourself. I also know so many talented artists and people who make videos. I’m very glad to be a part of this fandom.
